M&C Saatchi wins Home Office anti-social crime brief

LONDON - The Home Office has appointed M&C Saatchi to handle a government advertising campaign targeting low-level crime such as vandalism, begging and nuisance neighbours following a three-way pitch.

The appointment has been made by COI Communications for the Home Office. M&C Saatchi won the business after a shootout against Fallon and Euro RSCG.

The aim of the campaign is to educate people about what constitutes antisocial behaviour and how they can tackle it by reporting it to relevant authorities.

The activity is expected to focus on regional print and direct marketing and COI is not appointing a media agency for the task.

M&C Saatchi's previous work for the Home Office includes the "Could you?" police recruitment campaign. It used a string of celebrities such as boxer Lennox Lewis, Falklands War veteran Simon Weston, musician Bob Geldof, former 'EastEnders' star Patsy Palmer and the footballer John Barnes, to highlight the challenges of a career in the police.

Last week, the Home Office unveiled a new, £7.1m anti-crime campaign created by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R encouraging people to take steps to keep themselves safe and keep their property secure. It uses the strapline "Let's keep crime down".
