LONDON - Kelly Holmes, British Olympic heroine after winning two gold medals at the Athens games this year, has been re-signed by Reebok to head its marketing push aimed at women.

Holmes will appear in campaigns alongside athletes such as Nicolas Anelka and basketballer Allen Iverson, along with the rapper 50 Cent. She will also appear as ambassador for Reebok's sponsorship of the Race for Life, which raises money for Cancer Research UK.

Michael Price, marketing director for Reebok UK, said: "We are very proud. We have re-signed the world's most successful female athlete. Kelly personifies everything about our new brand platform: she is confident, she's an individual and, above all, she's a winner."

Holmes was already well known in Britain for her performances on the track, including a gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

However, it was her surprise double victory, for the 1,500 and 800 metres races at this summer's Olympics that really raised her profile.

Holmes is also tipped to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, the winner of which will be announced on December 12.

According to Holmes: "This crowns an amazing year for me. I am delighted to be the face of Reebok's marketing to women campaign, as well as an ambassador for Race for Life. Together with Reebok I hope we can get more women active and enjoying sport."

Last month, Reebok signed the R'n'B singer Jamelia to appear in advertising and as the face of its Rbk range of clothing.
