E4 head Boland moves to Millionaire producer Celador
LONDON - Murray Boland, head of Channel 4's entertainment channel E4, has quit to join Celador, the production company behind 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?', as head of factual entertainment.
Boland will be charged with developing popular factual entertainment shows such as Celador's Channel 4 show 'You Are What You Eat', which is now in its second series.
Boland was responsible for securing the US drama series 'Desperate Housewives' and commissioning 'Your Face or Mine?', where a couple has to rate how attractive they think they are, and painful gameshow 'Distraction', hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr.

Before joining E4 in 2002, Boland was director of programmes at MTV, where he was responsible for 'Cribs' and 'Singled Out'.
He was also a reporter on Network 7 in his youth and in 1991 he produced the pilot that won the commission for 'The Big Breakfast'.
Boland will work alongside former channel 4 entertainment chief Danielle Lux, who joined Celador as joint managing director last year.
According to Lux: "Murray has made a broad range of successful entertainment and factual programmes. This coupled with his experience as a broadcaster, makes him a tremendous asset for Celador's future. I'm delighted to be working with him again."
