offering on the alternative trading facility Ofex. It is using the money
to double staff numbers and move into central London.
Ray Taylor, managing director of Eyeconomy, currently employs eight
staff, including media director Jon Clarke. He is looking for a range of
recruits, from jun-ior trainees to experienced senior planner/buyers.
Taylor is also in the midst of securing office space in the City.
He welcomed applicants with media-owner backgrounds, stating: ’Sales
people are definitely on our target list. The job of negotiating media
is essentially the same, you are just coming at it from a media owner or
agency point of view. Workers from both backgrounds know the products
and use the same tricks.’
Taylor, a former business press editor at VNU and Reed Business
Information, launched Eyeconomy in 1996.
However, it wasn’t until 1999 that the online advertising market became
a thriving business sector.
The agency’s main client is the online jobs site Jobpilot.
