Centaur Communications is expanding its engineering group by

launching a magazine, relaunching its subcontracting title Subcon and

unveiling three websites.

The group, which is home to flagship title The Engineer, will launch

Integrated Manufacturing Solutions as a quarterly title in October.

IMS will target 12,000 senior management engineers, providing coverage

of issues concerning the shop floor and the boardroom.

The engineering group, which is run by managing director Neil Wood, is

planning to launch a website - e4integration.com - simultaneously with

the magazine.

The site aims to swell the engineering group’s advertising revenues

through online sponsorships and banner ads.

IMS and the website will be housed within Centaur’s process and control

group.

Lucy Sullivan has been promoted from commercial manager to publisher of

the process and control group.

Sullivan will oversee the IMS sales team of five and target advertisers

such as Siemens, Invensys, IBM and the Emerson Group.

Centaur will relaunch Subcon in September. The bi-monthly title aims to

reach 10,000 subcontractors in the engineering trade.

The magazine was originally launched as a supplement to Metalworking

Production in 1992, before becoming a standalone title.

Alan Freeman, sales director of the Metalworking Production group, will

manage Subcon’s four-strong team.

An accompanying website will provide additional content and carry the

usual mix of online advertising.

Meanwhile, The Engineer’s sales director Paul Johnson has moved over to

head sales at e4engineering.com, which features content pooled from the

eight magazines in the portfolio.

Johnson will oversee the efforts of the engineering group’s 30 staff,

who have been briefed to sell online advertising and sponsorships in

addition to magazine space.

Johnson will be succeeded at The Engineer by Neil Simpson, who leaves

the position of ad manager vacant on What’s New in Industry.

In September, e4network will expand its portfolio with the launch of

e4jobnet.com.
