Young & Rubicam poke fun over Prince's tampon gaffe

LONDON - An Australian tampon brand is having the last laugh following the engagement of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles's, over the publication of the 1993 'Camillagate' tapes in which Charles told his future wife how he would like to live in her trousers 'possibly as a tampon'.

Australian agency Young and Rubicam Melbourne reacted to the news with a cheeky new ad campaign for the tampon brand, Cottons Tampons, and the line; 'Well done, Charles, you're finally in'.

The new ad was created by Peter Hibberd, Tony Greenwood and written by Julian Schreiber.

Transcripts of an intimate phone call between the couple were leaked in 1993. In the call, Camilla declared she would suffer anything for Charles such was "the strength of her love".

Charles answered far less romantically with his wish that he would like to live in her trousers as one of her tampons, a statement which caused much amusement in the press and no doubt huge embarrassment for the Royal Family.

Cottons has a history of doing irreverent advertising and with previous strap-lines created by writer Sassy Havyatt and art director Frank Mueller. Ads included; 'The 'c' word', 'Bloody comfortable' and 'Not every bush harms the planet'.
