BBC to extend successful Strictly Come Dancing brand with children's edition

LONDON - The BBC is launching a 'Strictly Come Dancing' spin-off series for children called 'Dance Factory.'

The series will pair six young dancers with professional teachers, including 'Strictly Come Dancing' tutor Camilla Dallerup as they compete to win the competition.


The show will go out on Saturday mornings on CBBC later this spring and will be hosted by 'Top of the Pops' presenter and recent 'Celebrity Fame Academy' contestant Reggie Yates.

The BBC has already earned over £20m from selling the 'Strictly Come Dancing' format to countries around the world.


The show, which saw 'EastEnders' actress Jill Halfpenny dance her way to victory in the UK's last series, has been sold to Germany, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Australia and New Zealand with other countries, including the US, set to cash in on its success.


The BBC has already made spin-off 'Strictly Ice Dancing' for its Christmas schedule and has commissioned 'Strictly Come Dancing Africa' for its African programme week later this year.
 
CBBC and CBeebie's spring/summer line-up also includes children's favourites 'Gordon the Garden Gnome', 'Bob the Builder' and 'Balamory'.
