ITV awarded International Emmy for contribution to television
LONDON - ITV will receive the 2005 International Emmy Directorate Award for outstanding contributions to the television industry as it celebrates 50 years of broadcasting.
ITV chief executive Charles Allen will collect the award, which aims to recognise "outstanding contributions, over a period of time, to the arts and sciences of international television", on behalf of the network at the 33rd International Emmy Awards in New York on November 21.

ITV launched as the UK's first commercial broadcaster in 1955 and is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Bruce Paisner, president and chief executive of the International Academy and president of Hearst Entertainment said: "For 50 years, ITV has been an essential part of the fabric of television in the UK and has continually set new standards for communication and broadcasting around the world."
Camp comedian Graham Norton, who is currently fronting 'Strictly Dance Fever' on BBC, will return to host the star-studded event in the US.
The International Emmy Awards recognise television talent originating outside the US.
The academy also announced two new categories, Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor, to be included in this year's awards.
