LONDON - Experian has entered into a partnership with CPP Group, which will see it provide the card protection and insurance firm with access to its credit monitoring services.

Initially, the Experian service will add new identity fraud protection features to CPP's established Identity Protection Plan, offering consumers online and postal access to their credit reports.

CPP's Identity Protection Plan offers consumers protection against from the growing threat of identity theft, which is the UK's fastest growing crime, with more than 120,000 impersonations detected in 2004 at a cost of around £1.34bn a year.

The partnership with Experian will allow CPP to further develop its range of identity protection services to include proactive credit monitoring.

Jim Hodgkins, managing director of Experian Consumer Direct UK, said: "We will give consumers the upper hand over identity fraudsters, helping them to spot fraud attempts before someone can take advantage of their good credit rating."
