Manchester United proposes a regional casino
Manchester United Football Club has revealed plans for a casino at its Old Trafford stadium that it claims could drive the regeneration of the surrounding Quays area and potentially create 2,000 jobs.
The casino is part of a design for an entertainment complex including a five star hotel, restaurants and a sports club on the Trafford Park side of the ground, which the club plans to develop with entertainment company Las Vegas Sands.

The plans also include provision for a new Metrolink tram station, improved bus routes and extra car parking spaces.
Trafford Council's executive has agreed to support the joint proposal in principle and has made a bid for a licence for a regional casino.
Manchester United commercial director Andy Anson said that, if it goes ahead, the complex would "create jobs and generate income for the local economy".
