Craig and Mary first to face eviction from Big Brother as Makosi succeeds at task

LONDON - Hairdresser Craig and white witch Mary are the first two contestants to face the public vote in the sixth series of Channel 4's 'Big Brother'.

The pair were nominated by the "unlucky" 13th housemate Makosi, who had been given a secret task by Big Brother on her first day in the house, which was to make herself the most unpopular housemate.

Makosi, a cardiac nurse, succeeded in receiving four nominations, making her immune from eviction for this week. At the same time, Roberto and Sam also received four nominations, making them immune too.

In another of the twists Big Brother is springing on contestants with increasing frequency, Makosi was then informed that the two housemates she nominated would be automatically up for eviction. She chose Craig and Mary.

On hearing the news, Craig said: "I said, didn't I? I knew I would be."

Mary, who had been woken up and told to come through to the living room to hear the results, said: "I'm cool, will you help me wash my hair please."

Viewers of the Channel 4 programme now decide who will be the first housemate out on Friday.

Kemal, the teenaged cross-dressing belly dancer who has emerged as a viewers' favourite, received only one nomination. Science had been the bookies' favourite to be the first housemate evicted, but he also received only one nomination.

Busty Lesley was the only housemate to receive no nominations from her fellow contestants.
