Premier Rugby in hunt for sponsor

Premier Rugby is seeking a financial services brand to become a secondary sponsor of domestic rugby union's top-flight league.


The deal would cost about £600,000 a year, with the partner joining O2, Powergen, The Times, Land Rover and Gillette as an exclusive category sponsor of the Guinness Premiership.


Premier Rugby, the league's commercial rights holder, is targeting the major high-street finance brands, and aims to secure a contract lasting at least two years.

MBNA has a minor deal in place to provide branded financial products to fans of the 12 Premiership clubs. However, Premier Rugby has said this would be broken up should any financial services firm wish to launch similar products once they sign up as a category sponsor.
