Five acquires four US series including Lopez vehicle
LONDON - Five has bought a slate of new US television shows from Paramount including a comedy about Chris Rock's childhood experiences and a Jennifer Lopez-produced drama set around the glamorous backdrop of Miami's South Beach.
'Everybody Hates Chris' is a coming-of-age comedy told through the eyes of a character based on comedian Chris Rock, as he attends a predominantly while school in Brooklyn in the 1980s.
The Lopez-produced series 'South Beach' follows the lives of three young adults as they move to the Miami's South Beach from Brooklyn.

The third show Five has snapped up is 'Sex Lies and Secrets', a comedy-drama starring 'Wild Things' actress Denise Richards and set around a group of twenty-something friends living in a small bohemian neighbourhood near Hollywood.
Lastly is 'Out of Practice', a comedy starring 'Happy Days'' Henry "The Fonz" Winkler and 'West Wing' and 'Grease' actress Stockard Channing as doctors who share a profession but have little else in common.
The four shows were acquired following the recent LA Screenings and and will not be shown in the US until September, with Five likely to schedule them at the end of this year or beginning of 2006.
Jay Kandola, Five's director of acquisitions, said: "These are great additions to our already thriving roster of the cream of US acquisitions."
The new shows will join US imports 'CSI Miami', 'House', 'Joey', 'Two and a Half Men', 'Law and Order', 'The Shield' and 'Charmed' on Five.
