Agencies to vie for Butlins media brief

Butlins, the English holiday resorts operator, is reviewing its £3.5 million media planning and buying account.

The Bourne Leisure-owned company has already started talks with a number of agencies about the account. The incumbent, Mediaedge:cia, is not repitching.

The pitch is part of a wide-ranging review of Bourne Leisure's ad arrangements, undertaken over the past 12 months in a bid to win holidaymakers back to traditional seaside resorts. The creative account, which is held by Mustoes, is not thought to be included in the review.

Last June, Bourne Leisure reviewed media for its £5 million Haven Holidays and British Holidays divisions. The business, which was held by MEC, moved to BLM Media. MEC retained the Butlins and Warner Holidays accounts.

In March, Butlins hired Clark McKay & Walpole as its first direct marketing agency after a three-way pitch.
