Thomson and Waterstone's partner for summer book promotion

LONDON - Holiday company Thomson and bookseller Waterstone's have joined together for a two-month in-store promotion giving customers over £50 of savings on books and a £100 discount on their next holiday.

The partnership is the first promotional campaign created by Cocktail Marketing since it launched last week and aims to target men and women looking to buy a book they can enjoy on their holiday.

All customers booking a holiday through Thomson during the promotional period will receive a booklet of over £50 worth of savings, including vouchers with money off all Rough Guides and DK Eyewitness books and half price across a selection of summer "beach reads".

Customers spending £1,000 or more on a holiday to be booked by the end of May 2006 will get £100 off their next Thomson holiday.

Promotional Waterstone's vouchers will be distributed to Thomson customers who book throughout Thomson's 775 stores, over the phone, at Thomson foreign exchange bureaux, as well as those who purchase holidays through TUI UK's 20 Callas Pegasus Shops across North England and Scotland.

To support the campaign, Waterstone's will feature branded Thomson point-of-sale materials, including leaflets, shelf talkers and banners. Thomson will also be displaying co-branded point-of-sale materials in Thomson stores and foreign exchange bureaux throughout the month.

Anthony Knight, strategic partnerships manager for Thomson, said: "The synergy between the brands is excellent and the campaign offers true reciprocity. Reading and holidays go hand in hand, all in line with our strategy of broadening and stretching the Thomson brand."
