Nectar £20m job goes into Ogilvy

Marketing 20-Jul-05, 12:45

Nectar and American Express have handed the £20m launch brief for their co-branded credit card to American Express agencies Ogilvy and Carat, bypassing Nectar shops WCRS and Starcom.

The card's launch campaign will be Nectar's biggest piece of marketing activity since its introduction in 2002.

American Express head of product management Katherine Whitton said it appointed Ogilvy because of its worldwide experience in launching co-branded cards such as its venture with Air Miles in Canada.

The campaign will kick off with a direct mailing to Nectar's 12m cardholders ahead of an ad blitz in January.

The card will enable members to earn four points per £1 spent on it.

Any transactions with firms outside the scheme will offer a reward of one point per £1 spent.
