Retail News: River Island in Lakeside revamp
Fashion retailer River Island has revamped one of its main stores to give its men's offer greater standout.
The 6500ft2 branch in Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, has been
expanded to 10,000ft2 to allow for the changes.
The redesign, by Dalziel & Pow, is intended to break with the retailer's

existing format for its one-floor stores, in which the women's and men's
sections are less distinct. It aims to create a more 'intimate and
personal' shop for men.
River Island has overhauled a number of stores recently, including
outlets in London's Oxford Street, Manchester and Glasgow. So far, these
have been outperformed by the Lakeside store. The chain has more than
200 branches in the UK.
