Al Jazeera courts Sir David Frost for global launch
LONDON - Al Jazeera has approached broadcasting veteran Sir David Frost to join the English-language international news channel it is planning to launch next year.
Al Jazeera International will be the first English-language news channel based in the Middle East. Operating from Doha in Qatar, it will be available globally, and will also have a London office and bureaux in Kuala Lumpur and Washington.

Frost's spokesman would not comment on the reports. Having had his BBC Sunday morning politics show 'Breakfast with Frost' ended earlier this year, the presenter is a relatively free agent.
He will still present big interviews on the BBC and has also hosted a Sky One show with Des Lynam focusing on the greatest sportsmen in history.
Frost's presence could help the channel overcome antipathy from the UK and US governments, with whom Al Jazeera's existing Arabic channel is out of favour.
During the war in Iraq, the channel was condemned by London and Washington for alleged biased reporting and screening images of dead and captured coalition troops. Al Jazeera was then banned from operating its Iraq office by the interim Iraqi administration.
