LONDON – The BBC is to stream preview clips of BBC Three comedy series 'Nighty Night' on mobiles and online for the first time.

Video-compatible mobile phone users can preview the series by texting Nighty to 81010 and internet users can download the clips from bbc.co.uk/bbc.three from August 20.

This new initiative is one of a number of pilots that the BBC said it will be undertaking over the next few months.

It follows the broadband premiere of hit comedy 'The Mighty Boosh', with each episode being streamed a week ahead of its transmission on BBC Three, and the Best of Three multiscreen application for digital TV, a six-month trial that started in May.

Dark comedy 'Nighty Night' stars 'Human Remains' actress Julia Davis as heartless wife Jill fresh from killing her husband in the first series, and returns to BBC Three on September 6.

The series also stars former 'Have I Got News for You' presenter Angus Deayton as her love interest, Dom. Davis, who also helped write 'Nighty Night', has appeared in previous dark comedies 'Brass Eye' and 'Big Train'.

In the new series, Jill visits Glen, whom she framed for the murder of her husband, in prison to relieve him of his chip and pin number before drugging and kidnapping her assistant Linda and setting off to Cornwall to find Don, who is working through his marital problems at the Trees Therapy Centre.

'Nighty Night' won a British Comedy Award for Best New TV Comedy, a Rose D'Or Award for Best Sitcom and RTS Television Awards for Best Situation Comedy and Best Comedy Writer.

The show is produced by Baby Cow for BBC Three in association with Oxygen Media.
