Walt Disney Company centralises its media into Carat

by Jeremy Lee, Campaign 19-Aug-05

Walt Disney Company has completed the centralisation of its media account into Carat, after handing the agency the £3 million media planning brief for Walt Disney Attractions.

The planning business moved without a pitch from Starcom UK. Carat
previously handled the buying for the Disney Attractions division, which
was the last buying-only account it handled. The business comprises Walt

Disney's parks and resorts.

Carat secured the bulk of the £48 million Disney brief, which
includes the Buena Vista music and video distribution business as well
as the Disney TV channels, at the start of 2004. The business was
realigned by Aegis from its Vizeum UK office as part of a housekeeping
exercise to ensure Disney was handled by one network across Europe.

The Disney Attractions planning account has always been an anomaly
within Disney's media arrangements. Starcom had handled the account for
four years, having picked up the business through its US network where
it is Disney's agency of record.

No-one at Carat would comment on the win.
