Internet needs no regulation says ITC

The internet does not need to be subjected to external content regulation, according to a report from the Independent Television Committee and the Broadcasting Standards Committee.

The report based on research conducted last year involving 200 people between 16 and 86, showed that as people became more familiar with the internet, they could increasingly avoid undesirable content. More than half of those questioned believed that users should regulate themselves.

However, it added that software should be made available for parents to help block unsuitable material from their children.
