New man takes chair at IAB

The new media industry has welcomed the appointment of the former Pearson and ITV chief executive Richard Eyre to the role of chairman of the Interactive Advertising Bureau.

Eyre will work alongside the IAB's existing chief executive Danny Meadows-Klue and an IAB spokesman said that he has pledged a significant time contribution to the role.

Eyre is already a non-executive director at the production company RDF and an adviser to 19 Management. He is also an associate partner at communications agency Unity.

Hugo Drayton, managing director of Hollinger Telegraph New Media, said: "Richard Eyre is widely respected, very experienced and understands the new and old media well - in sum, a great catch!"

Jed Glanvill, futures director at MindShare, said: "He'll be able to raise the level of conversation about the online media sector's potential among more senior clients."

The IAB recently set the aim at doubling UK online ad revenue over the next two years.
