Blinkx to offer TV without ads
A new online search facility has launched claiming it can deliver viewers favourite television moments but with the commercials stripped out.
Blinkx TV said it is the first such search and download engine to use the method across news, sport and entertainment programming.
The service will capture and index video stream directly from television output.

Blinkx TV currently has 45,000 hours of searchable video and audio from 20 channels online from the likes of BBC, ITN, CNN, Fox and Sky News.
The system is the first to target the consumer mass market, with two similar projects focussed on business users.
Blinkx said the facility will be used differently by consumers than business users.
Browsers will search for favourite scenes in movies or relive goals of the season.
The most popular searches since the engine’s launch this week have been compilation clips of TV shows and breaking news stories.
A survey carried out by the company among beta testers found Paris Hilton was its most searched person.
Mark Opzoomer, chief executive at Blinkx TV, said: “This also opens up a new way for advertisers to address their audiences more personally while adding pressure on the conventional TV spot as the way to reach mass audiences.”
