Sky secures major Oscar deal with Givenchy

Sky has secured a major deal through KR Media’s new UK outfit for Givenchy to sponsor the broadcaster’s raft of programming surrounding the 2005 Academy Awards.

Team UK Media brokered the deal between Sky and the perfume and cosmetic giant, which will include the ceremony on 27 February, a season of films on Sky Movies, Sky Travel’s series of Hollywood-themed programming and documentaries of stars on the Biography Channel.

A dedicated microsite developed for the awards through the sky.com platform will also be sponsored by Givenchy.

The creative work for the entire package will feature the current “face of Givenchy”, Lord of the Rings star, Liv Tyler.

Mark Wood, Sky Media's commercial director, said: "The Academy Awards are the most prestigious film event of the year and Sky will cover them in a way that no other broadcaster could.

“This sponsorship demonstrates how we can utilise the whole of Sky Networks to deliver enhanced results on behalf of our clients."

The deal is believed to be the first major piece of activity rolled out by the emerging KR Media outfit since its low-profile presence in the UK was stepped up in the New Year.

Jay Gallagher of Team UK Media, said: "The Academy Awards reflected perfectly Givenchy's combination of French elegance and Hollywood glamour.

“The opportunity came up at the perfect time in the brand's regeneration"
