Moss ready to sign 'good behaviour' contracts to save career

LONDON - Kate Moss has vowed she will make 'good behaviour' contracts with fashion companies after signing a document with H&M agreeing to a 'healthy and wholesome' lifestyle, in a pledge to save her career following last week's revelations of cocaine binges.

The 31-year-old multi-millionaire supermodel has been making some life-changing decisions in an attempt to save around £2m in earnings since the Daily Mirror printed pictures of Moss apparently sharing cocaine with a group of friends at a studio where boyfriend Pete Doherty was recording.

The Croydon-born model, who is worth around £30m, is expected to be holding crisis talks with the fashion companies she represents, including Rimmel London, Burberry, Chanel, Calvin Klein and Christian Dior.

The grainy pictures were taken in a West London studio where Moss and Doherty, the former Libertines and now Babyshambles frontman, were seen "chopping, snorting and sharing" five lines of cocaine in just 40 minutes.

The troubled model admitted in a Channel 4 documentary in 1998 to having drug problems in the past, but denied ever taking cocaine. In July this year, Moss won substantial damages from Trinity Mirror after a Sunday Mirror article alleged she had collapsed into a coma after taking cocaine on a visit to Spain in June 2001.

H&M said it "strongly disapproved" of Moss's actions but has agreed to let the model keep her contract to model for the launch of its Stella McCartney range.

Liv Asarnoj, an H&M spokeswoman, said: "We strongly disapprove of her action. We feel that this is very unfortunate. We are giving her a second chance."

It is understood that the police will not be getting involved even though Sir Ian Blair, the Metropolitan police commissioner, has promised to crack down on middle-class drug users. Former Tory Home Office minister Ann Widdecombe criticised the police decision, saying it is sending out the wrong message.

Moss has a two-year old daughter by Dazed & Confused publisher Jefferson Hack. She is due to guest edit French Vogue, which will feature a free CD of a song that she has recorded with Doherty.

The News of the World took the opportunity to put the boot into Moss at the weekend, with a front-page splash detailing lesbian affairs and further drug-taking exploits.

But the Independent on Sunday came out in support of the model with editor-at-large Janet Street-Porter writing: "She's fun, super-bright, amazingly open and direct. Almost too frank. You don't stay at the top of a fickle business like modelling or pop music for a long time unless you're clever."
