VNU signs deal with Gawker Media to publish gadget weblog

LONDON - Global media and information company VNU has joined forces with Gawker Media to publish the gadget weblog Gizmodo.com.

Gawker Media, the New-York based media company, publishes more than a dozen weblogs, including Gizmodo.com.

The companies are looking to push the weblog as "the ultimate European destination" for everything gadget, gizmo and consumer electronics related information.

VNU will provide its local presence and network of bloggers to contribute, as well as local consumer technology market knowledge.

The licensing agreement will see Gizmodo being translated into six European languages and augmented with local coverage for each market.

Dominique Busso, CEO of VNUnet, said: "We believe that this partnership with Gawker Media will help us accelerate our efforts in the blog publishing business area."
