LONDON - HMV has signed up to Multimap's storefinder service so visitors to the music retailers' website can easily locate their nearest store.

Visitors to HMV's website just have to click on the "Store Finder" tab at the bottom of the homepage and enter their street, town or postcode to access a list of the top five nearest stores, will full address details and a map pinpointing their location with HMV logos.

Steve Bailey, HMV's internet commercial manager, said: "The maps are delivered at sub-second speed and are easy to read, which is a real value add-on for our customers as they go about their busy, day-to-day lives."

Steve Frost, head of sales for Europe at Multimap, said: "In a recent survey, it was revealed that multi-channel customers spend up to 50% more than single-channel customers, so the more encouragement retailers give customers to shop across channels, the better."

Frost added that the provision of location information on retailers' websites is a fundamental part of this strategy.

"Customers can research products online, use our services to find their nearest store, and proceed to make the purchase in-store."

Multimap provides online maps to more than 8,000 clients including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Ford, Marks & Spencer, Robert Dyas, Argos and Nectar.
