LONDON – Brand licensing agency The Beanstalk, formerly owned by the Ford Motor Group, has been acquired by global Omnicom Group.

The Beanstalk Group, which will operate as part of Omnicom's Diversified Agency Services group, is believed to be the first acquisition of a licensing agency by a holding company.

The Beanstalk Group will keep its offices in New York, Detroit, Bentonville and Los Angeles and London and will continue to represent many of Ford's key brands.

Thomas Harrison, chairman and CEO of the Diversified Agency Services division of Omnicom, said: "Beanstalk's founding principals, Michael Stone and Seth Siegel, are two of the most respected professionals serving the branded licensing industry. Together, they have built one of the most successful licensing firms in the world."

Stone, Beanstalk's CEO, said: "By becoming part of one of the world's largest communications companies, we can offer Beanstalk clients direct access to the powerful, global resources of a team of outstanding marketing professionals who share our passion for great service and quality results."

The Beanstalk Group formed more than two decades ago and now has around 100 staff. Clients include AT&T, Harley Davidson, Ford, The Stanley Works, Mary-Kate and Ashley, and Danskin.
