Economist CEO to succeed Coleridge as chair of PPA
LONDON - Helen Alexander, the chief executive of the Economist Group, is to be the next chairwoman of magazine industry body, the Periodical Publishers Association.
Alexander has been appointed as deputy chairwoman until November next year, when she will succeed current chairman Nicholas Coleridge.
She joined the PPA board in 1997, the same year she was appointed chief executive of the Economist Group. She was formerly managing director of the Economist Intelligence Unit from 1993.

Her other positions include non-executive director at Centrica and trustee of the Tate Gallery.
"I am absolutely delighted to be appointed to the PPA chair and hugely look forward to the challenges that I am sure it will bring," Alexander said.
Coleridge, also managing director of Conde Nast, said: "On the principle that you should always be succeeded by someone more successful, intelligent and attractive than yourself, Helen Alexander was the perfect solution. She'll be sensational."
