Napster and Q team for 2005 musical round-up podcast

by Jennifer Whitehead, Brand Republic 30-Nov-05

LONDON - Napster has signed a deal with Q magazine that will see it podcast a musical round-up of 2005 in the form of a quiz.

The release of the podcast coincides with Q's annual review of the year issue. The programme goes live on December 5 and will be available free to Napster subscribers.

The podcast will be hosted by Ed Byrne and features guests Miss Dynamite and Richard Archer from the band Hard-Fi. The two teams competing in the quiz are lead by Q editor Paul Rees and contributor Keith Cameron.

Rounds in the quiz will include "reunions and comebacks", "the best and worst of 2005" and questions on this year's Q awards.

The collaboration continues the work that Q and Napster started earlier this year, including a covermount CD on the June issue of Q called 'Here Comes the Sun',  which gave readers the opportunity to listen to more than 1m tunes for free with Napster.

"Q is the essential music guide and Napster is the perfect place to find essential music. As far as I'm concerned, there's no better way to sum up the year in music than by bringing the two of us together. And I'm delighted Miss Dynamite and Hard-Fi could join us," Rees said.
