Vauxhall Opel in European push

Marketing 04-Jan-06

Vauxhall Opel has tasked Dutch agency 180 Amsterdam with creating two multimillion-pound campaigns.

It is the first time the car giant has handed the agency a pan-European
task, which will run in the UK in the first half of this year.

The first campaign will promote the marque's flagship models; the second

will aim to increase test drive take-up and build on the success of its

'Million mile test drive' campaign.

180 Amsterdam won the work in a pitch against fellow roster agencies
Delaney Lund Knox Warren and McCann-Erickson Frankfurt.

While 180 Amsterdam will create the advertising idea, the pan-European
activity will be run outside of Holland by McCanns. The work will
include TV, print and press.

Opel is currently reviewing several creative briefs, including work for
its Astra model and the launch of sports utility vehicle Antara.

Marcel won the brief for its Corsa Silver Line limited-edition line last
year, while Lowe gained the Meriva brief.

Vauxhall sold 296,000 cars in the 11 months to December, a 3.8% drop
since 2004.
