CNN outperforms rival business channels with top audience reach

LONDON - CNN International has come top as the leading news brand for the global financial community across all regions, according to a new survey.

CNN has recorded an increased reach of 78.7% compared with Bloomberg's 49.5%, CNBC's 59% and 53% for BBC World, globally on a monthly basis.


In Europe, the international news network reached 72.1% of financial managers in large companies and senior executives in banks and institutions, compared with BBC World's 56.5%, Bloomberg's 48.9% and 39.3% for Euronews.

The international news network leads all channels in its weekly reach with 60.5%, with 36% finding CNN the most "up to the minute" and one in three respondents tuning into CNN every day from around the world when travelling.


However, when it came to websites, Bloomberg was on top, with a weekly reach of 19.5% of the audience, compared with CNN's 17.3%, which put it in second place.


CNN targets senior financial decision makers, top managers of financial institutions, commercial and investment banks with its news.


The Global Capital Markets Survey was conducted by Objective Research and carried out between May and November 2005.
