Beck's tests 4% draught variant
InBev is trialling a 4% ABV draught version of its Beck's lager brand in the UK.
It hopes to expand the brand's range to compete with Foster's and
Carling.
The lager is imported from Germany, where it is brewed to the same
purity laws as the premium 5% ABV Beck's.

It is being tested in 50 pubs and bars in five cities across the UK.
If the trial proves successful, InBev will roll it out further.
InBev will pay less duty importing the 4% lager, allowing it to drop the
price.
Beck's' 5% ABV variant competes with imported beers including Grolsch
and Carlsberg.
InBev is trying to broaden the appeal of its brands, introducing global
beer brand Brahma and working on its draught offering, with a new pour
mechanism for its Bass and Boddingtons brands.
