Sony BMG names brand ties boss

Marketing 15-Feb-06

Sony BMG Music Entertainment has hired Duncan Bird, former managing director of Soul Advertising, in the new role of vice-president of brand partnerships.

Bird, who will report to Clive Rich, senior vice-president of Sony BMG's
futures division, will work as a middleman between the company's artists
and brands.

Sony BMG's stable of artists includes Bob Dylan and Will Young. It also

owns TV talent show The X Factor.

The company is looking to grow its revenue beyond traditional record
sales by encouraging brands to tie up with its artists and music.

Before launching Soul, now called Nitro, Bird was group business
director at Bartle Bogle Hegarty.
