Help the Aged in fundraising drive

Help the Aged is planning a fundraising day on 7 April to help generate donations from UK workplaces.

The Big Hug will be part of the charity's awareness month in April. Company bosses are being encouraged to involve staff in fundraising events such as quizzes and dress-down days. Interested firms are being sent ideas packs.

Help the Aged corporate relations manager Nick Adams said they would also be encouraged to run charity sweepstakes for the Grand National on 8 April.

The charity ran its first Hug Month last year, and its success led to an expansion of the concept this year.

It is being supported by a national consumer media relations campaign, which is being run with a parallel campaign to the business press to drum up support for The Big Hug.
