Former Hello! editor joins News Magazines for women's launch

LONDON – News Magazines has hired Maria Trkulja, a former editor of Hello!, to prepare a women's weekly launch for autumn.

The appointment will fan speculation that the News International offshoot is planning a celebrity weekly that would go up against Hello!, Now and OK!.

Trkulja edited Hello! for less than a year, and more recently helped launch Reveal, the celebrity weekly from The National Magazine Company.

She joined Hello! in July 2002 after launching the Daily Mail website femail.co.uk, but resigned in March 2003 after Hello!'s owner Eduardo Sanchez Junco reorganised the editorial structure, giving himself a larger role.

She went to become deputy editor on Reveal, leaving three months after it launched in October 2004.

The new title will be the third from News Magazines after real stories magazine Love It! in February and the Sunday Times property magazine Inside Out, which debuts this week.
