LONDON - Two more seasons of 'The Simpsons' have been commissioned by the Fox network, ensuring the nation's favourite animated family will stay on our screens until at least 2008.

The deal for the 18th and 19th seasons of 'The Simpsons', will see the 400th episode air some time over the next two years. The deal means 'The Simpsons' will become the longest-running primetime entertainment series on TV.

The show's cast, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Hank Azaria and Nancy Cartwright, are all expected stay on for the new shows.

Creator Matt Groening said last year that he had no plans to stop making the programme, which recently featured Ricky Gervais, as well as a string of other celebrities and stars including Tony Blair, Bill Clinton, U2 and Rupert Murdoch among others.

"I don't see any end in sight," he said. "I want to get to 366 so we have one for every day of the year, including leap year."

Groening said the show would keep going as long as they could keep surprising viewers. "That's what you're looking for in television -- surprise."

In addition, Fox announced it had commissioned another season of animated comedy 'King of the Hill', which will be the show's 11th series.
