Retail News brief: HMV's acquisition of Ottakar's cleared

HMV's acquisition of the Ottakar's books chain has been cleared provisionally by the Competition Commission. It concluded that a merger of Ottakar's and HMV-owned Waterstone's would not result in weaker competition in the sector.
