LONDON - Channel 4 is promoting the long-awaited second series of 'Lost' with an online catch-up video showing events from the first series, as well as a teaser preview of upcoming storylines.

The online promotion on the channel4.com website comes ahead of the launch of the second series in the UK on May 2 when viewers will finally have some of their questions answered.

On the night, viewers will get the chance to see the first three episodes, with the first two being shown back to back between 10pm and midnight on Channel 4 and the third being screened immediately after on E4.

Ahead of this fans of the series will have their appetite whetted further with the screening of a one-off special about the series on Channel 4 called, 'Destination Lost', which is scheduled for May 1 at 7.15pm.

It is understood that the second series was scheduled for a summer launch in the UK, but has been brought forward to be closer to its run on ABC in the US, which is already underway.

The series was brought forward partly because the longer it runs ahead in the US the more spoilers about plot developments slip out, possibly stifling UK interest.

The series, about a group of plane crash survivors on a remote island in the Pacific, has become a cult hit across the world due to its enigmatic script and plot twists.

At the end of the last series a group of men, who seem to be pirates, kidnapped one of the group's youngest members. The group also finally opened a mysterious hatch that lead to a deep underground shaft on the island.

The second series promises more answers to the island's mysteries, including what lies behind the hatch. Viewers will also see the introduction of another group of victims from the same plane crash, known as "tailies" beause they were in the back of the plane.

These include Austrailan actress Kimberley Joseph, who plays an air hostess. She made a brief appearance in one of the flashback scenes in the first series and will be best known to UK viewers as the girlfriend of John Thomson's character Pete in ITV's 'Cold Feet'.
