Crisis picks Unity early for Xmas

PR Week UK 11-May-06

It might be more than seven months away, but homelessness charity Crisis has already signed up PR support for a Christmas fundraiser.

The charity hopes to repeat the success of its 2005 'ethical Christmas pudding' campaign, which raised £25 every time a £30 branded pudding was sold.

Last year, Unity PR ran a three-month pro bono project to promote the gift in the 'what to buy at Christmas' pages of lifestyle and national press (PRWeek, 28 Oct 2005). Crisis head of comms and campaigns Lucy Maggs said the agency had now been rehired to run a longer campaign this year.

'Last year went well, so we want to give Unity more time to develop publicity for long-lead titles,' she added.

Among the initiatives will be 'golden tickets' inside the puddings for the following year's music events.
