Total Film publishes Superman special
Future Publishing has produced a special edition lenticular cover for the latest issue of Total Film to promote the summer blockbuster movie Superman Returns.
The cover of the collector’s edition adopts a newspaper format with spoof headlines announcing the return of Superman to Metropolis, a plotline in the movie.
The story is illustrated by a full-colour lenticular in which Clark Kent, originally played by Christopher Reeve, transforms into Superman, as played in the new film by Brandon Routh.

A lenticular cover featuring Darth Vader to promote the final Star Wars movie The Revenge of the Sith last year was the highest-selling issue in Total Film’s history.
Last year, Total Film’s ABC circulation figure was up 9.5%, although it was down 9.9% in the second half of 2005, possibly affected by a dearth of big movies.
“Superman Returns is undoubtedly the most anticipated movie of the summer, so being first to the newsstand with a highly collectable cover should be dynamite for our sales figures,” said publisher Simon Maxwell.
