DCMS plots 2012 tourism activity
The Department of Culture Media & Sport is conducting a consultation on the development of a strategy called Tourism 2012 to make the most of the Olympics.
It follows the publication of a letter from Tony Blair to culture
secretary Tessa Jowell outlining the key challenges for the DCMS.
The letter, which outlined the department's priorities, made no mention

of its role in promoting tourism, which has led to criticism from the
industry. The Tourism 2012 consultation will be in partnership with
Visit Britain and Visit London.
There has been no incentive in government funding for international
marketing since 1997.
