LONDON - Albert Read, a senior executive from Conde Nast International, has been appointed general manager of Conde Nast UK covering editorial and commercial operations as well as expansion plans.

Read's arrival on September 4 will not change the current structure or reporting lines, the company said, but "he will be involved at a very senior level in all operations, both editorial and commercial, present and future".

The management team will continue to report to managing director Nicholas Coleridge, who reports to chairman Jonathan Newhouse.

Read is currently deputy planning director at Conde Nast International and business director of Conde Nast Asia-Pacific. He has been involved in the company's expansion into China and has been working with Coleridge on setting up a Conde Nast company in India.

Coleridge said that he and Read would continue that work and would also work together on CondeNet International, the company's group of international websites such as Vogue.com.

According to Coleridge, the company's expansion over recent years meant it was helpful to have Read in place.

"In the past 15 years we have grown from a company of five titles to a company with 11, plus hotel guides and numerous contract titles and websites, approximately 30 businesses in total.

"It will be enormously helpful to have someone of Albert's experience and focus to help keep track of all of this, as well as to work with our team on our future expansion plans."
