FT could shed 40 journalists in web and print shake-up
LONDON - The Financial Times could be facing job losses among its editorial staff as a result of its web and print restructuring programme, which is nearing completion.
According to media reports, up to 40 FT journalists from the production pool could be asked to leave, following the newspaper's two-year long revamp, which aims to provide a fully integrated web and print editorial system by the autumn.

The FT, which has 500 staff working across its editorial staff, has declined to comment on the job loss speculation, and stressed that its newsroom operations review was still ongoing.
It is understood that the FT's senior management will be conducting a review of its staff operations as part of its wider goal of gearing up for the demands of online journalism, and that those changes could lead to staff cutbacks.
The FT has undergone a raft of changes since it announced a radical overhaul of its print and online capabilities two-years ago.
Last month Ien Cheng, currently publisher of FTChinese.com, was made managing editor of FT.com, where he will serve under newly appointed chief executive John Ridding.
In March FT.com announced that editor Simon Targett was to be replaced by US news editor James Montgomery.
Rob Minto was appointed interactive web editor for FT.com in January.
