Google has launched its video download service, Google Video, in the UK, Europe and Canada.

The UK site has content from a range of producers, including ITN, talkbackTHAMES, which makes the Green Wing, Smack the Pony and Bo Selecta, and 250 matches from this year's Wimbledon championship from IMG Media.
There are trailers for films including Superman Returns, Cars and Over the Hedge, music videos from Paris Hilton and David Hasselhoff. The site also allows users to upload their own content.

Google Video, which first appeared in the US in January with a mixture of free and paid for content, has now been rolled out to the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain, with each country home page featuring native content and the native language.
Users can rate content from one to five stars, add their own comments, and post videos onto other sites such as blogs and MySpace.
The UK site, at video.google.co.uk, does not contain advertising or sponsored search, but a spokeswoman said Google was concerned with attracting users before trying to monetise the content.
Google European director of partnerships Joanna Shields said: "By launching Google Video in these new markets we will enable more people in more countries to search for, upload and sahre video content in more languages."
