LONDON - Online coalition loyalty firm ipoints has been acquired by its French counterpart Maximiles for an undisclosed sum.

According a statement from Maximiles, the deal creates Europe's largest online coalition firm and follows a strong financial year for ipoints, in which it reported 34% growth in revenue and gained a number of new partners including ChoicesUK.com and Petplanet.co.uk.

It also follows the public flotation of Maximiles, whose clients include rail company Voyages-sncf.com, in Paris last year.

Geraldine Tosh, ipoints managing director who is staying with the company, said: "The joining of these two businesses will enable us to combine our strengths and further accelerate our growth.

"We are seeing increasing demand from clients to deliver pan-European strategies and capabilities across e-commerce, direct marketing and research sectors, so this move creates the perfect platform with which to deliver, providing great opportunities for companies working across Europe."

Marc Bidou, chairman and CEO of Maximiles, added that the move will create a combined database of around 2.5m members with more than 80 loyalty partners.

The two firms already have a number of common partners, including Mypixmania.com and Promod.com.
