Unicef to step up focus on legacy donations

by Jeremy Lee, Marketing 26-Jul-06

Unicef UK has appointed Watson Phillips Norman to help it develop a legacy marketing strategy.

The charity has been promoting legacy donations to its donors for the
past 10 years using a mix of work done in-house and by agencies. The
appointment of Watson Phillips Norman is part of plans to increase the

focus on this method of giving through direct mail and online

drives.

The agency was hired following a three-way pitch against Flourish and
incumbent WWAV Rapp Collins.

WWAV Rapp Collins and Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw, which were appointed
to handle Unicef's £5m direct account last November following its
move out of Tequila\London, will remain on the roster.

Unicef was an official partner of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. In May, it
launched a World Cup campaign using the strapline 'Unite for children,
unite for peace'. The activity included a broadcast featuring 15 World
Cup players endorsing the charity.
