agency to promote the November release of Tomb Raider III.
It has previously used Birmingham-based agency The Source for

advertising, which has included TV, press and posters.
The Source and Third Planet are pitching for the account.
Since its debut in November 1996, Tomb Raider and its successor Tomb
Raider II have sold more than six million copies world-wide, making it
one of the best-selling video-game titles.
Lara Croft, the game’s heroine, has featured on more than 80 magazine
and newspaper covers and the character is to feature in a live-action
feature film through Paramount Pictures.
’We are hoping the game will be the number one PlayStation game and in
the top three in the PC chart,’ said John Davis, Eidos’ head of
marketing.
Eidos is also planning to revamp its database in order to improve its
direct-marketing activities.
Customers buying games from the Eidos portfolio fill in a warranty card
to receive product information on other releases.
This will be used for more targeted mailings, in which customers will be
segmented by genre, such as action or adventure.
Eidos has also relaunched its web site and is creating the industry’s
first online registration scheme, which is activated when users download
games and information.
The scheme will allow product news and special offers to be received via
e-mail.
Eidos is putting its merchandise catalogue online next month, having
agreed further Lara Croft licenses with selected manufacturers. A Lara
Croft fan club will also be launched to make the site more interactive.
