LONDON - Guardian Unlimited is launching a site dedicated to all things environmental.

Edited by Hilary Osborne, environment.guardian.co.uk features environmental news and comment from The Guardian and The Observer newspapers.

Specialist sections will cover topics such as transport, climate change, conservation, ethical shopping and energy use. The site will also feature a carbon calculator, which enables users to work out their carbon footprint, and a "What can I do?" button, which provides links to sites suggesting ways to improve the environment.

The site will also include: a blog by Leo Hickman, The Guardian's environment specialist; advice on how to be greener from Observer columnist Lucy Siegle; and articles on cycling by Matt Seaton.

Other contributors include: The Guardian's environment editor John Vidal; environment correspondent David Adam; science correspondent Alok Jha; and Guardian Unlimited environment correspondent Matt Weaver.

Osborne said: "The site aims to provide a one-stop shop for a greener lifestyle, drawing together existing online resources in a coherent way and encouraging users to interact by sharing their ideas for greener living. Over time it will develop and our ambition is to provide users with the definitive source of guidance on green activity."

This Saturday's The Guardian will include a 100-page guide to greener living.
