LONDON - Internet security firm MessageLabs has appointed specialist technology shop Tidalwave as its lead global agency following a three-way pitch against Mason Zimbler and Rapier.

The brief is to inform businesses about MessageLabs' managed service, which protects them from viruses and spam.

MessageLabs is to roll out Tidalwave's work from early November, initially in the UK and US and if successful to the rest of Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. It will work with smaller local agencies in addition to Tidalwave.

Tidalwave has worked for the client before, when it handled a series of projects during 2001 and 2002.

Jos White, chief marketing officer at MessageLabs, said: "Tidalwave delivered some excellent creative thinking and ideas to a challenging brief."

Tidalwave is based in Richmond and its client roster includes HP and Canon.

Mason Zimbler handles some online work for MessageLabs.
